Management of GCB Bank PLC led by the Managing Director, Farihan Alhassan on Friday, 28th February 2025 visited the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi. The visit was to formally introduce the new MD to the Vice Chancellor and other key members of the University.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Rita Akosua Dickson welcomed the esteemed delegation and offered sincere gratitude to the Bank for the countless assistance it has provided the institution over the past decades.
She acknowledged that GCB is the Bank that occupies the biggest space on campus and receives a chunk of the revenue generated by the school. She therefore urged for more CSR efforts from GCB and outlined three main areas where support is currently being sought for. These include the construction of a Pediatric Unit for the KNUST Clinic, an Entrepreneurship Hub and assistance in the area of Research Development.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of the Bank, Farihan Alhassan acknowledged the various projects and activities the Bank has undertaken over the years to enhance academic progress and subsequently churn out problem solving professionals. 
He stated the intention of the Bank to introduce an Incubator (an innovation hub where students or fresh graduates undertake training/ projects relating to business challenges the Bank needs to solve) to enhance seamless transition from academia to industry. He also noted the need to support ESG programmes being undertaken by the school and assist with measures geared towards power financing to reduce the cost of energy at the University.
The team then continued to the Mathematics Department of the University where Mr. Alhassan is an Alumnus to interact with lecturers and faculty members.
