In a heartwarming gesture of compassion, GCB Bank PLC has extended a lifeline to the vulnerable children and young women at Agbogbloshie's City of God (Holy Bakhita) shelter. This donation is part of the Bank's ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and community support.

City of God Donation 1 1Presenting the donation on behalf of the Managing Director and GCB Bank, the Head of Corporate Affairs, Patricia Kwasi-Kumah, emphasized that this initiative was inspired by the spirit of love and compassion as February is widely recognized as the month of love. She reiterated the Bank’s dedication to uplifting the less privileged and contributing to a safer, more inclusive society. “February is a time when love is celebrated, and at GCB Bank, we believe in extending that love beyond words. This donation is a testament to our commitment to making a meaningful impact in communities that need it the most,” she stated.

City of God Donation 2 1Rev. Father Varghesh Anthony Chittilappilly, who oversees the home, expressed deep gratitude to GCB Bank and highlighted the critical role City of God plays in the community. He noted that the home was established to provide shelter, education, and skills training to both children and adults in Agbogbloshie. “This support from GCB Bank will go a long way in sustaining our mission of transforming lives. Many of the children here have been rescued from difficult situations, and this contribution will help us provide them with a safe and nurturing environment,” he said.

He further explained that the area was previously known as Sodom and Gomorrah but was renamed the City of God to inspire hope among the people of Agbogbloshie. The donation will support the home’s operational needs, including education, healthcare, feeding, and vocational training, ensuring that the beneficiaries have a pathway to a brighter future. The Bank remains committed to driving positive change in society and will continue to support initiatives that promote social welfare, security, and empowerment for vulnerable groups across Ghana.
