On the evening of March 22, 2025, GCB Bank PLC hosted its first IFTAR for Muslim customers at the prestigious Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel, marking a historic moment for both the Bank and the Muslim community. The event was more than just an ordinary corporate gathering—it was an opportunity to introduce Farihan Alhassan as the new Managing Director of the Bank.

IFTAR 23This IFTAR the first of its kind for the Bank, also provided an opportunity for the Bank to connect with its Muslim business partners, fostering a sense of community and unity. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as many were eager to meet Farihan Alhassan, the first practicing Muslim to serve as the Managing Director of GCB Bank - a groundbreaking achievement.

Over 300 Muslim customers, business partners, and community leaders attended, including notable figures such as Lt. Col. Umar Sanda Ahmed (Rtd.), who expressed his excitement about witnessing this historic event as a celebration of diversity and inclusion, setting a precedent for both the Bank and the broader business community.

Farihan Alhassan in his address, reflected on the significance of the evening. “Tonight marks a turning point for both this Bank and our community,” he said. “It’s an honor to be here among friends, colleagues, and valued customers, as we break our fast together.” His words emphasized the importance of inclusivity, representation, and respect for the experiences of the Muslim community, signaling a new era for the Bank.
