In a commendable demonstration of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), GCB Bank has made a notable contribution to the community by donating air conditioners to the National Diabetes Management & Research Centre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
This effort is intended to enhance comfort and improve the overall environment for both patients and healthcare workers. The National Diabetes Management & Research Centre, established in 1995 as a centre of excellence, focuses on managing diabetes, training healthcare professionals, and serving as a research hub for Ghana.
In response to an appeal for assistance, GCB Bank provided and installed air conditioners to further improve patient care. Following the installation of the air conditioners, a team from GCB Bank, led by the Head of Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Patricia Kwasi-Kumah, visited the Centre to inspect work done. Mrs. Kwasi-Kumah emphasized that this donation is part of GCB Bank’s broader CSR strategy, which focuses on community welfare in areas such as healthcare, education, and sports.
Dr. Yacoba Atiase, Head of the Centre, expressed deep gratitude to GCB Bank for their timely support. She highlighted the importance of an air-conditioned environment, noting that the Centre serves a large number of patients daily and engages in critical diabetes research.
"The facility now provides a more comfortable setting for patients, many of whom spend extended periods here for consultations, treatments, and follow-ups. It has also improved working conditions for staff, leading to enhanced productivity," she said.
Dr. Atiase further explained that the air conditioners are vital for maintaining the right temperature for the Centre's sophisticated medical equipment, which is sensitive to temperature fluctuations. "Air conditioning ensures the longevity and proper functioning of our devices," she added.
With GCB Bank’s wide network, supporting the communities in which it operates is crucial for community development which impacts the country at large.
