The Managing Director (MD) Farihan Alhassan, together with some Management Team members and staff of the Bank paid a courtesy call on the Yaa-Naa and some Paramount Chiefs in the Northern Region of Ghana after assuming office as the MD of Ghana’s largest indigenous bank.

The call was to formally inform the Yaa-Naa and the Chiefs of his appointment as the Managing Director of GCB Bank PLC. It also aimed to affirm his commitment to the relationship between the Bank and the Dagbon Kingdom, seek their blessings and support, explore new partnerships opportunities, and discuss how GCB can best support the communities and businesses.
The relationship between the Bank and the Kingdom dates to the 60’s when the Bank established its main branch for the region in Tamale. The Bank can currently boast of about six (6) branches in the jurisdiction.
The visit took the Managing Director and the Team to the Gbewaa Palace which is the seat of the Yaa-Naa, and to the Yoo-Naa, Gulkpe-Naa, Dakpema and Tolon Naa’s Palaces. The Team also paid courtesy calls to the Chief Imams of Tamale Central Mosque and Ambariya Sunni Community. This forms part of the Bank’s community engagement initiatives to further enhance its relationship with the leadership and communities in which it operates, in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to support tradition and culture.
During the visit to the Gbewaa Palace, Yaa-Naa Abukari II touched on the importance of collaboration in the Bank, opportunity for women and their involvement in decision making, peace in the country, and advised the Bank to support Agriculture and Agribusiness in the Northern Region.
The Managing Director during his address pledged the Bank’s commitment to supporting agribusiness and other businesses in the Northen Region and the country. He also used the opportunity to thank the Yaa-Naa and his Elders for their prayers, support and guidance over the years.
Throughout the visits to the various Palaces, the chiefs and elders expressed immense joy and pride to see Farihan Alhassan at the helm of affairs at Ghana’s largest indigenous bank, GCB Bank. They highlighted his kindness, selflessness, positive ambition, commitment to teamwork, support for humanity, and strong family values, which they believe will help him propel the Bank to greater success.
